Man charged with failing to comply

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On September 14, 2019 a man was released from custody with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that he was notify police in writing three days before any change in his address.

On Tuesday, police attended the man’s last known address and learned that he was no longer living there.

Yesterday morning, police located the man and he was arrested.

The 32-year-old Chatham man was charged with failing to comply and transported to the Courthouse pending a bail hearing.

Shoplifting leads to charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 11 a.m. yesterday morning, the man attended No Frills in Wallaceburg and concealed several packs of chocolate bars in his coat.

As the man attempted to leave the store making no attempt to pay for the items, an employee approached him.

The man pushed the employee in an attempt to flee, however he was restrained until police arrived.

The 22-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000, being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000 and assault with intent to resist arrest.

He was transported to the Courthouse pending a bail hearing.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police arrested a man who was wanted by London Police Service.

The 30-year-old Chatham man was turned over to officers from London for court purposes.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police arrested a man wanted for breaching his Conditional Sentence.

The 25-year-old Chatham man has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man turns himself in to police

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, a man wanted for domestic related offences attended police headquarters and turned himself in.

The 44-year-old Courtright man was arrested and charged with criminal harassment and uttering threats.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man breaches house arrest condition

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On July 30, 2019 a man was released from Court with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that he was to remain inside a specific residence in Chatham at all times, unless in the presence of his surety.

Earlier this week, the man was observed with another man at a residence in the Dresden area, without his surety.

Last night, police located the man and he was arrested.

The 32-year-old Chatham man has been charged with failing to comply.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Motor vehicle collisions

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, emergency crews responded to a two vehicle collision in the area of Riverview Drive and Keil Drive in Chatham.

Minor injuries were reported.

Total damage was estimated at $15,000.

A 33-year-old Chatham woman was charged with following too closely.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, emergency crews responded to a two vehicle collision on Drury Line near Fargo Road.

One person was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

Total damage was estimated at $10,000.

A 33-year-old Cambridge woman was charged with careless driving.

Traffic enforcement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday, members of the CKPS Traffic Unit conducted an enforcement blitz in partnership with the OPP and the Ministry of Transportation.

As a result of this targeted Commercial Vehicle Operation:

– 29 vehicles were inspected

– 14 vehicles were taken out of service

– 2 sets of license plates were seized

– 19 charges were laid ranging from vehicle maintenance to licensing, along with Highway Traffic Act violations including speeding and distracted driving.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service reminds drivers that these blitz will continue throughout the year across our community in an effort to keep our roadways safe.
