Armand Van Mensel of Wallaceburg

Armand Van Mensel, a resident of Wallaceburg, passed away peacefully in Chatham on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the age of 90.

Armand is the son of the late Camiel & Louise (Mennen) Van Mensel. Predeceased by his wife Mariette Leonia (Laevens). Companion to Lia Van Nieuwenhuyse. Loved father of Frank (Kim), Diana Boland (Dave), Darcy (Irene) and Joanne Chortos (Jeff). Dear grandfather of Chris (Becky), Nichole (Paul), Jason, Danielle (Jeff), Mary Ann, Cameron and Cassy (Zac) and great grandfather of Colton, Carson, Caden, Lucy and Callie. Brother of Rene (Joan).

Armand emigrated from Belgium at the age of 18 to Blenheim, Ontario. He met & married Mariette and started their life in Wallaceburg. Armand was a bricklayer by trade, eventually transitioning into building affordable homes as Armand Van Mensel & Sons. In the entirety of his career he constructed 147 homes.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg from 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Monday. The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at Holy Family Church on Tuesday, October 22 at 10 AM. Interment to follow at Riverview Cemetery.
