Man charged with break and enter

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 1:20 a.m. this morning, an officer on general patrol in the downtown Chatham area heard a loud, suspicious noise.

As the officer drove towards the noise, police received an alarm call at a business on King Street West.

Upon arrival, the officer observed that the front door had been smashed and that various items had been stolen.

After reviewing video surveillance footage, police identified the man responsible.

The officer located the man around 2 a.m. still in the downtown core.

As the officer placed the man under arrest, he pulled away and fled on foot.

Following a short foot chase and struggle, the man was taken into custody.

A 22-year-old Chatham Township man has been charged with break and enter, escape lawful custody and resist arrest.

He was released pending a future court of November 20, 2019.

Man charged with failing to comply

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On July 5, 2019 a man was released from custody with several conditions.

Two of those conditions stated that he was not to attend a specific residence in Chatham or communicate with the homeowner.

Yesterday morning, an observant citizen called police when they witnessed the man acting suspicious in the backyard and then enter the home.

Upon police arrival, the man answered the door but then quickly closed it on the officers.

Through investigation, police learned that the man entered the home through an unlocked door and woke the homeowner who was still sleeping.

The 35-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply.

He was transported to the Courthouse pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with domestic related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that a verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation and that this was not the first incident of domestic violence between the couple.

The 20-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with uttering threats, two counts of assault with a weapon and four counts of assault.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested on outstanding warrant

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 3:30 a.m. this morning, an officer on general patrol observed a man walking on Margaret Avenue in Wallaceburg who was wanted for failing to attend for his fingerprints and court earlier this month.

The 44-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
