2019 Remembrance Day services planned

Several ceremonies are planned across to the area to celebrate Remembrance Day.

The services get started on Walpole Island First Nation on Friday, November 8.

The ceremony starts at 10 a.m. at the Bkejwanong Children’s Centre and heads down to the cenotaph.

In Wallaceburg on Saturday, November 9 the Branch 18 Honour Guard is attending at Fairfield Park at 11 a.m. for a time of remembrance.

Later in the day on Saturday, Branch 18 will be at a puck drop at Wallaceburg Memorial Arena, just before the start of the Thunderhawks game at 8 p.m.

On Sunday, a Church Parade will take place, the honour guard will assemble prior to the service at 10 a.m. at Port Lambton United Church.

At 1 p.m. on Sunday, there is a service at Oaks Retirement.

The Remembrance Day services will continue on Monday, Remembrance Day, starting at 9:30 a.m. at Wallaceburg District Secondary School, followed by a parade to the Cenotaph for 11 a.m.

After the ceremony, everyone is invited back to the Legion Branch 18 for a light lunch.

In Dresden, on Sunday, November 10, a Service of Remembrance will be held at Dresden Community Church at 1 p.m.

On Monday, November 11, the Remembrance Day Service will be held at the Cenotaph at 11 a.m.

Later on Monday, the Remembrance Banquet will be held at the Dresden Legion Branch 113 at 6:30 p.m.
