Lacrosse stick fundraiser launched for Dylan Wilbur

A Wallaceburg business is auctioning off a traditional hand-crafted lacrosse stick in support of a local youth.

Jamie Knight, owner of Leave Your Mark Lacrosse, is hoping to raise funds through a raffle to help the family of Dylan Wilbur, who is just over one-year-old.

“We are organizing a ‘Day for Dylan’ but in the meantime we will be raffling off a Leave Your Mark Lacrosse Handcrafted Traditional Lacrosse Stick,” Knight said.

“Tickets will be $10 or three for $25 and we will have tickets ASAP, but for me and all of us at Leave Your Mark Lacrosse we want to do as much as we can for the Wilbur family. I’m hoping that our lacrosse family and this amazing community can rally around this and help them out in a time of need.”

Dylan’s mother Jess Wilbur provided an update to Knight at Leave Your Mark Lacrosse.

“It’s been fairly quiet lately, which we liked, until we received the results from Dylan’s last MRI,” Jess said.

“His main tumor is still growing sadly. The doctors have decided to start another medication, along with the oral one he gets at home, as they feel quite confident this will be successful (in stopping the tumor from growing.) These types of tumors are not only very rare, but very aggressive and sometimes don’t react the way we want to the medication.”

Jess said her son has still been in his usual good spirits for the most part.

“This little one is a fighter and I have no doubt in my mind he will tackle this next little hiccup,” she said.

“Please continue to pray for him and that this new combination of medications works for years and years to come.”

Knight said he wanted to give a shout-out to Evan Cree at Traditional Lacrosse.

“For the amazing handcrafted sticks he provided in such short notice and I encourage you to follow him on social media,” Knight said.

“Brent and Jess Wilbur have a baby boy named Dylan that has had a pretty rough go, to say the least, and we at Leave Your Mark Lacrosse want to help.”
