Window smashed & items stolen from Burnett’s Cycle & Mower

A long-time Wallaceburg business was targeted by thieves early this morning, Thursday, November 28.

Dave Burnett, the owner of Burnett’s Cycle and Mower, told the Sydenham Current the damage and theft happened around 5 a.m.

“This is the first break in to happen since the business started over 30 years ago,” Burnett said. “A neighbour heard glass shatter and looked out the window to see a small black four door car drive away.”

Burnett said about $5,000 in equipment was stolen from the Lafontaine Street business, including chain saws and a cement saw.

Burnett added that two huge rocks were thrown through the front window.

Const. Renee Cowell, public information officer for the Chatham-Kent Police Service, told the Sydenham Current that police were aware of the incident.

“This morning around 5 a.m., police responded to an alarm at Burnett’s Cycle and Mower in Wallaceburg,” Cowell said. “Unknown suspects damaged the front window. Damage estimated at $2,000.”
