Chatham-Kent OPP officials allege: On December 1, 2019 at approximately 1 a.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Chatham-Kent Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Chatham-Kent Fire Department responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 401 in Chatham.
A motor vehicle travelling westbound on Highway 401 near Orford Road left the roadway and came to rest in a treeline on the north side of the highway.
The lone occupant driver, a 37 year old Windsor, Ontario woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The westbound lanes of Highway 401 were closed for approximately seven hours as the OPP investigated.
The highway has since reopened.
