Police: Attempted theft, impaired driving, copper theft

Pair charged following attempt theft in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Earlier this week, a man was observed on video trying to steal money from the coin machine at a car wash in Wallaceburg.

The man was also in the company of a woman that he is currently on conditions not to communicate with.

The pair fled in separate vehicles in the same direction.

Early this morning, police located the man and he was arrested.

The 31-year-old Dresden man has been charged with attempt theft, driving while prohibited, driving while under suspension, breaching his Probation Order and being in possession of a stolen license plate.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Through investigation, police learned that the woman was also currently bound by conditions not to communicate with the man.

The 26-year-old Dresden woman was arrested early this morning and charged with breaching her Probation Order.

She has been released pending a future court date of December 20, 2019.

Woman charged with impaired driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 10 p.m. last night, police received a call about a possible impaired driver in Chatham.

An officer on general patrol located the vehicle and observed the woman crossing the centre line.

As the officer initiated a traffic stop, the woman placed her vehicle in reverse and hit the cruiser.

Through investigation, the officer believed the woman was driving while under the influence of alcohol and she was arrested.

The woman was transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

A 50-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

She was released this morning when sober pending a future court date of December 16, 2019.

The cruiser sustained minor damage.

Luckily, no one was injured.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police located a woman in Chatham who was wanted for breaching her Probation Order and failing to attend court.

The 39-year-old woman was arrested and transported to the Courthouse pending a bail hearing

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police located a man wanted for breaching his Conditional Sentence Order.

The 54-year-old Chatham man was arrested and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Theft of copper in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime over the weekend, unknown suspects entered Southwest Warehousing on Raleigh Street and stole copper wiring from an electrical box.
