Robbery in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 8 p.m. last night, police responded to a robbery at Harvey Variety in Chatham.

A lone man, wearing a balaclava, entered the variety store and demanded money while brandishing a weapon.

The cashier refused and a struggle ensued.

Luckily, the cashier was not physically injured and the man fled the scene.

The suspect was last seen wearing a dark gray coat with three stripes down each sleeve, black cargo style pants, black shoes with white around the soles, black hood and light coloured gloves.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to the report of a suspicious woman in Bill McDougall Park in Wallaceburg.

Officers located the woman and through investigation learned that she was wanted for stealing items from a parked vehicle and for failing to attend court.

The 34-year-old woman of no fixed address was arrested and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police arrested a man wanted in connection with a shoplifting incident at Walmart in Wallaceburg, impaired driving and failing to attend court.

A 29-year-old Walpole Island man was released pending a future court date of January 7, 2020.

Stolen vehicle

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Saturday at 3 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. unknown suspects stole a grey 2009 GMC Sierra crew cab truck from a residence on River Line in Chatham.

The truck was last seen with Ontario license plates AL65 589.

The truck also has a fire crest sticker on the driver’s side back window, green volunteer fire fighter light on the dashboard and black tonneau cover.

Approximately $2,000 worth of tools were inside the truck.
