Man charged with assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last Friday, a man attended a business in Chatham when he was approached by a female employee in the doorway as she was locking up.

The woman advised the man that the business was closed, however he pushed the woman into the door in an attempt to force his way past her.

The agitated man left when a second employee showed up and directed him to leave.

The woman sustained injuries and attended the hospital for medical attention.

Last night, the 69-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm.

He was released pending a future court date of January 7, 2020.

Domestic disturbance leads to charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Chatham.

Through investigation, officers learned that a verbal argument between the man and woman escalated into a physical altercation.

The 69-year-old Blind River man was arrested and charged with assault.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested on outstanding warrant

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, a man wanted for failing to comply with his release conditions was arrested in Sarnia.

The 33-year-old Wallaceburg man was transported back to Chatham-Kent for court purposes.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Break and enter in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday, police responded to a break and enter at the Rogers cell phone tower on Ivan Road in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that unknown suspects forced their way into the fenced compound and cut several wires and stole batteries.

Total value of the theft and damage has been estimated at $50,000.

Motor vehicle collisions

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning around 10 a.m. emergency crews responded to a two vehicle collision on St. Clair Street near Pioneer Line in Chatham.

One person sustained non-life threatening injuries.

A Chatham woman was charged with disobeying a red light.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, shortly after 7:30 p.m. police responded to a two vehicle collision on Longwoods Road near Standaert Road in Chatham.

No one was injured.

A 23-year-old Kingsville man was charged with an offence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Total damage was estimated at $25,000.
