Teen clocked driving 165 km/h on Highway 40

Chatham-Kent OPP officials allege: On December 21, 2019 at approximately 9:15 a.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting directed speed enforcement on St. Clair Road (Highway 40).

An officer observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed and, using a speed measuring device, determined it was travelling 165 km/hr in the 80 km/hr speed zone.

A 17 year-old driver from Lakeshore is facing stunt driving charges.

The driver’s licence was suspended for a period of seven days.

The motor vehicle being operated was towed and impounded for a period of seven days.

The OPP reminds motorists to obey traffic laws and report aggressive driving by calling 1-888-310-1122 or 9-1-1, if necessary.
