$300,000 damage after a fire in Merlin

The cause is undetermined after a blaze this morning in Merlin.

“Crews from Station #17 – Merlin were dispatched to 212 Erie Street South just before 11 a.m. this morning for reports of a structure fire,” Chatham-Kent Fire & Emergency Services officials said in a media release.

“They arrived on scene to heavy flames and smoke coming from the garage and home. Stations #16 – Raleigh South and #15 Raleigh North were called for assistance with the fire. High winds contributed to the fire extending to the neighbouring home.”

Fire officials say there were no injuries.

Damage is estimated at $300,000.
