Snowfall warning issued across Chatham-Kent

A snowfall warning has been issued in Chatham-Kent, as snowfall with total amounts of 15 to 20 cm is expected.

“Significant snowfall expected overnight into Saturday,” forecasters say.

“Snow is expected to move into the area overnight as a low pressure system approaches. Snow will be heavy at times Saturday morning. The snow will transition to rain Saturday afternoon and then change to light flurries Saturday evening. Total snowfall amounts of 15 to 20 cm are likely.”

Winds gusting up to 60 km/h will create areas of blowing snow giving reduced visibilities, particularly Saturday morning, forecasters say.

“Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions,” Environment Canada officials stated.

“Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
