Curling event raising funds for Wallaceburg’s hospital

On Saturday February 1st, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation will be hosting their sold-out 9th Annual Charity Curling Classic presented by ProResp Community Respiratory Therapy at the Sydenham Community Curling Club in Wallaceburg.

The bonspiel features 16 teams, each playing two games comprised of six ends, all in support of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s Wallaceburg hospital site.

“We can’t wait until February 1st,” stated Mary Lou Crowley, President & CEO of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation, in a press release.

“The Wallaceburg community is very passionate about their local hospital, and each year at this event we just have such a great time. It’s so inspiring to witness the impact we can have on local healthcare when we come together at an event like this to support such an important cause.”

The teams will be collecting pledges to work towards a $27,000 goal for the purchase of a new Automated Chest Compression Device for Wallaceburg’s Emergency Department.

This piece of equipment assists in the resuscitation of pulseless patients, and eliminates the risk of provider fatigue while freeing up staff to perform other important tasks.

These pledges, along with the generous contributions from this year’s Presenting Sponsor, ProResp; Dinner Sponsor, TekSavvy; and Lunch Sponsor, Entegrus; among others will help to fund this life-saving piece of equipment.

“The Charity Curling Classic is an event that I look forward to every year,” stated Tina Mapletoft, Event Committee Chair and Wallaceburg ER nurse, in a press release.

“I’m honoured to have the opportunity to help organize this year’s event, as it supports a cause very close to my heart. If we are able to reach our fundraising goal, this piece of equipment will make a difference in the lives of many patients. Our department is so grateful to be supported by the Foundation and this year’s Charity Curling Classic.”
