Dresden Night Market gives back

After two successful Night Markets in 2019, the Downtown Dresden Night Market volunteer organizing team is excited to announce three donations to local organizations.

$1,500 has been given to the Dresden Legion, $1,500 to the Dresden Sidestreets Youth Centre and $500 to the Dresden Food Bank.

The Dresden Night Market Team has also donated funds to the Dresden BIA to buy cedar roping for beautification efforts during the holiday season.

Since the first Dresden Night Market in December 2017, every dollar generated at the event has been put back into bringing new entertainment such as a stilt walker in 2018, live music at summer events, a chalk artist in 2019, an ice carver at the recent Christmas Night Market, and more.

The event is free for visitors to attend, and showcases dozens of small businesses and the Dresden downtown core in August and December each year.

While drawing in thousands of visitors to Chatham-Kent, the Night Market has featured several local organizations and charities, giving them the opportunity raise awareness and fundraise.

Local groups such as the Dresden Kinsmen Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Chatham-Kent, the CIBC Run for the Cure, Salvation Army, Dresden Community Splash Pad, International Plowing Match 2018, Dresden Sidestreets Youth Centre and more have been invited to the event at no cost over the past two years.

These groups have attended one or more of the five Dresden Night Markets held since 2017.

Over the past three events, the Dresden Sidestreets Youth Centre has raised $6,531 through their 50/50 draws.

To give back to the community for supporting this event since the start, the Dresden Night Market Team is thrilled to be able to put money back into the community.

The Summer Night Market and Christmas Night Market will be returning in August and December, 2020.
