Police: Impaired driving, threats, stolen truck recovered

Man charged with impaired driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 11 a.m. yesterday morning, police responded to the report of a possible impaired driver in the area of McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg.

Officers located the vehicle and through investigation believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

A 66-year-old Walpole Island man was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

He was released pending a future court date of February 26, 2020.

Man charged with failing to comply

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, shortly after 11 a.m. police attended Home Hardware on Keil Drive in Chatham for a suspicious man in the store.

The man left prior to police arrival, however officers located him a short distance away.

Through investigation, officers learned that he was currently bound by conditions not attend that store.

A 26-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with his release conditions.

He was released pending a future court date of February 18, 2020.

Woman charged with uttering threats

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police received information that a woman had mailed a letter threatening Service Canada employees in Chatham.

Through investigation, police identified the woman responsible and she was located at her home in Toronto.

With the assistance of the Toronto Police Service, the woman was arrested and transported to Chatham-Kent for court purposes.

The 45-year-old woman has been charged with criminal harassment and two counts of uttering threats.

She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman charged with failing to comply

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On December 10, 2019 the woman was released from custody with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that she was to notify police in writing, within three days, of any change in her address.

Earlier this week, police learned that the woman was no longer living at the last address on file.

Yesterday afternoon, officers located the woman and she was arrested.

A 39-year-old woman of no fixed address in Chatham was charged with failing to comply.

She was released pending a future court date of February 12, 2020.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police observed a man on Grand Avenue East who was wanted for failing to comply with his release conditions.

A 37-year-old Chatham man was arrested and released pending a future court date of February 18, 2020.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police located a man on Fourth Street who was wanted for breaching his Probation Order and failing to attend court.

A 25-year-old Chatham manwas arrested and released pending a future court date of February 18, 2020.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police located a man in Wallaceburg who was wanted for domestic related assault, theft under $5,000, failing to comply with his release conditions and failing to attend court.

The 29-year-old Walpole Island man was arrested and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, police located a man on Keil Drive South in Chatham who was wanted for domestic related assault and failing to attend court.

The 41-year-old Chatham man was arrested and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Stolen truck recovered

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: As previously released, sometime late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, unknown suspects stole a green 2012 Ford F-150 pick-up truck from a residence on Teetzel Line.

The truck was last seen with Ontario license plates 816 0FM.

Yesterday afternoon, the stolen truck was recovered in a bush area on Scane Road near Front Line.

Theft of jewelry in Wheatley

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime yesterday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. unknown suspects entered a residence on Wheatley Road and stole approximately $500 worth of costume necklaces and earrings.
