Police execute search warrant in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Intelligence Section, with the assistance of the Critical Incident Team, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant at a residence on Gray Street in Chatham.

Officers located a small amount of suspected shatter (cannabis resin) along with a switch blade knife.

A 42-year-old Bothwell man and a 36-year-old woman, of no fixed address, were both arrested and charged with drug possession and possession of a prohibited device.

They were released pending a future court date of February 27, 2020.

Woman charged with failing to comply

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On January 31, 2020 the woman was released from custody with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that she was to obey a daily curfew of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.

On Monday night, around 11 p.m. police attended the woman’s home to conduct a compliance check.

At this time, officers learned that the woman was not home.

Last night, police located the woman and she was arrested.

A 23-year-old Chatham woman was charged with failing to comply.

She was released pending a future court date of February 21, 2020.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police located a woman in the downtown Chatham area who was wanted in connection with a theft investigation last month where a package containing over $100 worth of clothing was stolen from a porch on Harvey Street.

A 27-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

She was released pending a future court date of February 28, 2020.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, an officer on general patrol initiated a traffic stop on Riverview Drive in Chatham.

Through investigation, the officer learned that the driver was wanted for driving while under suspension, drug possession and failing to attend court.

The 38-year-old Raleigh Township woman was arrested and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, around 3:40 a.m. an officer on general patrol located a man on Park Street in Chatham who was wanted for breaching his Probation Order.

A 38-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested and released pending a future court date of February 20, 2020.

Traffic enforcement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, members of the Traffic Unit conducted enforcement on Mill Street West in Tilbury.

A total of 20 motorists were stopped and charged with speeding.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, members of the Traffic Unit conducted enforcement in the Community Safety Zone on McNaughton Avenue East in Chatham.

A total of seven drivers were stopped and charged with speeding.

As part of our commitment to the citizens of Chatham-Kent, members of our Traffic Unit continue their efforts to ensure drivers are obeying the rules of the road.

Over the coming weeks, officers will be targeting offences that have been identified as factors responsible for death and injuries on local roadways.

We would like to remind motorists to please obey speed limits, put your phones down, buckle up and don’t drink and drive.

Stolen truck recovered in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: As previously released, on Monday morning just before 6 a.m. unknown suspects stole a brown 1996 GMC Sierra pick-up truck that was left unlocked and running at a business on Richmond Street.

The truck was recovered later that day on Gray Street in Chatham with about $800 damage.
