OPP: Four separate ‘stunt driving’ charges laid on the 401

The Chatham-Kent OPP were busy on the 401 over the weekend, as stunt driving charges were laid in four separate incidents.

In the first incident, OPP officials allege on February 13, 2020 at 10:01 a.m. a Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol along Highway 401 near the Orford Road exit noticed a vehicle moving at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle was displayed on radar well in excess of the posted 100-km/h zone.

The driver, a 24-year-old Brampton resident, was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle.

They are scheduled to appear in court on March 18 to answer to the charge.

This charge includes an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.

In the second incident, OPP officials allege on February 13, 2020 at 10:38 a.m. a Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol along Highway 401 near the French Line exit in Essex County noticed a vehicle moving at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle was displayed on radar well in excess of the posted 100-km/h zone.

The driver, a 28-year-old Calgary, Alberta resident, was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle.

They are scheduled to appear in court on March 30 to answer to the charge.

This charge includes an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.

In the third incident, OPP officials allege on February 13, 2020 at 8:46 p.m. a Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol along Highway 401 near the Victoria Road exit noticed a vehicle moving at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle was displayed on radar well in excess of the posted 100-km/h zone.

The driver, a 19-year-old London resident, was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle.

They are scheduled to appear in court on March 18 to answer to the charge.

This charge includes an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.

This is the third driver charged with Race a Motor Vehicle in the same day.

And finally, in the fourth incident OPP officials allege on February 16, 2020 at 10:28 p.m. a Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol along Highway 401 near the Bloomfield Road exit noticed a vehicle moving at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle was displayed on radar well in excess of the posted 100-km/h zone.

The driver, a 19-year-old Windsor resident, was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle. They are scheduled to appear in court on April 1 to answer to the charge.

This charge includes an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.
