Update at 11:23 a.m. – Chatham-Kent Fire & Emergency Services have released details about the large fire in Wallaceburg on Wednesday morning, May 11, 2022.
“Fire crews from Station #3 Wallaceburg were dispatched at 6:24 a.m. to reports of smoke coming from a property on Gillard Street in Wallaceburg,” fire officials say.
“When crews arrived they found a large compound full of wooden pallets on fire.”
Crews from Chatham and Wallaceburg volunteers firefighters were called to the scene and the fire was brought under control by 7:30 a.m., fire officials added.
“Heavy Equipment was utilized to move debris around and to cool any remaining hot spots,” fire officials say.
“The cause of the fire is undetermined and no injuries were reported.”
Update at 8:30 a.m. – Wallaceburg Councillor Aaron Hall shared the following information on social media:
“From Chief Case: “Station 3 Wallaceburg responded to a call for a suspected dumpster fire at the above address at 06:24 hours this morning, upon arrival they discovered a large quantity of wooden pallets on fire. Supported by Station 2 Chatham and the Wallaceburg volunteers the fire is now under control with no injuries. Crews will remain for a few hours dealing with hotspots, cause is currently being investigated.”
Update at 7:45 a.m. – Chatham-Kent Fire & Emergency Services say crews are on scene at a “large pallet fire” in Wallaceburg.
