Bridge washing taking place in Wallaceburg May 13-15

Bridge washing throughout the Municipality of Chatham-Kent begins the week of May 13-17, 2024; with the larger movable bridges in the community of Wallaceburg among those to be washed first.

Monday May 13, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Murray Street Bridge and Margaret Avenue (Dundas Bridge) in the Community of Wallaceburg will be washed, Municipal officials say.

These operations will require single lane closures utilizing traffic control personnel.

Tuesday May 14, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., the McNaughton Avenue over Sydenham River (Lord Selkirk Bridge) in the Community of Wallaceburg will be washed.

These operations will require complete closure of the bridge during washing operations and bridge movements, resulting in no through access during the duration of the closure.

A detour will be posted during the closure, using Base Line and Arnold Road.

Wednesday May 15, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Base Line Bridge in the Community of Wallaceburg and Tupperville Road Bridge in the Community of Tupperville will be washed.

These operations will require single lane closures utilizing traffic control personnel.

Thursday May 16, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Prairie Siding Bridge in the Community of Raleigh will be washed.

These operations will require single lane closures utilizing traffic control personnel.

“It is important for motorists to follow posted construction signage, and directions from on-site traffic control personnel at all times,” Municipal officials say.

“Traffic is encouraged to use alternative routes, if possible, to avoid delays.”
