Lambton OPP issue results from Canada Road Safety Week campaign

OPP officials allege: Members of Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) recently took part in the Canada Road Safety Week campaign which took place from June 21 to July 1, 2024.

The campaign is aimed to reduce collisions by focusing on impaired driving, distracted driving, aggressive driving, and seatbelt use. The campaign included increased enforcement and public awareness.

Over the course of the campaign, Lambton County OPP officers laid 284 traffic related charges including:

– Speeding: 146

– Stunt Driving: 2

– Impaired charges: 6

– Distracted Driving: 2

– Seatbelt charges: 43

24 Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) programs were set up at various Lambton County locations throughout the duration of the campaign.

The remainder of charges fall under the Highway Traffic Act, Liquor Licence and Control Act, Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act and Canada Shipping Act.

The OPP will continue to focus throughout the summer on the “Big Four” factors in serious and fatal collisions: aggressive driving, inattentive driving, impaired driving, and lack of occupant restraints.

This includes the major highways and all other roads.

This dedication promotes safe driving habits, making our roads safer for everyone.
