Camp U-Turn bus stolen, fundraiser launched

(GoFundMe)

U-Turn Ministries in Wallaceburg has launched an online crowdfunding campaign, after their bus was stolen late last month.

“It was with shock, on Monday April 1, 2019, that U-Turn Ministries discovered their 2005, 22 passenger bus had been stolen from the First Baptist Church parking lot sometime over the weekend of March 30-31, 2019… and sadly it wasn’t an April Fool’s joke,” the organizers of the fundraiser posted on the GoFundMe page.

“To date police have no leads and the ministry is presently working with their insurance company. The insurance has indicated compensation will be according to the Black Book value, approximately $3,500-3900, which is greatly appreciated, but will fall far short of the cost to replace the bus.”

U-Turn Ministries officials say this bus is an integral part of their outreach to children ages 5-12 as they reach into neighbourhoods across the community.

“Picking up little ones to participate in hearing and learning life-changing messages with eternal rewards. The loss of this bus greatly impacts the ability for these little ones to attend the weekly ministry, and summer camps,” the GoFundMe campaign page says.

Cheques payable to “U-Turn Ministries” with a note for “bus replacement” are also being accepted.

They can be mailed to, U-Turn Ministries, 99 Thomas Ave., Wallaceburg, ON, Canada, N8A 5C8.

“Should donations exceed the goal amount of $15,000, any surplus will be directed to the summer camp programs, and/or other ministry expenses as per the discretion of U-Turn Ministries leadership team,” the GoFundMe campaign page says.

“We wholeheartedly believe these words from Ephesians 3:20-21, “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”
