Christmas at the Wallaceburg Museum on Saturday
Christmas is coming early to the Wallaceburg and District Museum this year, as a series of events are planned for Saturday, December 8.
Here are the details:
Dresden Santa Claus Parade on Saturday
Santa is coming to Dresden this Saturday, December 8.
The parade starts at 6 p.m. heading north from Dresden Area Central School, through the town following the familiar route, down Main Street and ending at the Larry Tiffin pavilion, where Santa Claus will greet kids and hand out candy bags.
“As an added attraction again this year the Dresden Downtown Night Market will be going on as well,” Dustyn Pumfrey, one of the parade organizers with the Dresden Kinsmen, told the Sydenham Current.
“So there is a lot of stuff to see in Dresden on December 8 this year.”
The theme this year is the ‘Song’s of Christmas’.
There will be prizes including best commercial float, best non-commercial float and best light display.
“Hopefully we have a great turn out,” Pumfrey said.
“It is a very ‘Christmasy’ atmosphere this year.”
If you have a float you would like to add to the parade, marshaling starts at 5 p.m. in the DACS parking lot on Wright’s Lane.
Downtown Dresden Christmas Night Market on Saturday
The Downtown Dresden Christmas Night Market is returning for its second year.
Organized by a team of volunteers, the outdoor event features many local elements.
Over 50 Chatham-Kent and area vendors will line Main Street in downtown Dresden on Saturday, December 8th, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Dresden merchants will be open late, and the Santa Claus Parade will pass by the event at
6 p.m.
The Hot Chocolate Bar will return this year, with proceeds going to the Dresden Sidestreets Youth Centre.
Four food trucks will be at the event, along with Christmas music broadcast throughout.
New in 2018 are live ice carving demonstrations, a pair of live reindeer, a Pop-Up Holiday Bar featuring Chatham-Kent craft beer and holiday drinks, a 50/50 draw, and gift wrapping stations at several downtown merchants.
The event is sponsored in part by Gateway Casinos Dresden, Bercab Farms, Kent Agri-Lab, Dresden Ready Mix, Dresden Rotary Club, and 519 Events & Promotions.
Last year’s event saw over 2,500 visitors from all over Chatham-Kent and Lambton.
The aim of the event is to provide residents with a fun and unique event to attend, while simultaneously supporting local small businesses and charities.
