Downtown Dresden BIA launches new logo

Despite the pandemic, the Dresden business community is buzzing with new ideas, excitement and potential.

“The last few years has seen fantastic growth and investment in our downtown – by both new and existing businesses, and our local service clubs. It was time to brand a new look for the Dresden BIA,” stated Christal Wills, chair, in a media release.

The Dresden Townhall is among the most iconic of our landmarks, Tyler Ouellette, a Dresden Night Market organizer and BIA co-chair said.

“The Townhall has gained a new sparkle in our downtown core,” Ouellette said in a media release.

“As part of Dresden Shines this past holiday season, the townhall was adorned with smart lights which can now be used year-round to light up downtown Dresden for special events and holidays.”

Myriam Armstrong, a BIA Director, and the designer of the new logo, suggested that the BIA was looking for a new clean look for their logo while at the same time paying homage to the heritage of the downtown.

“Green and blue reflect the colours of the Explore Dresden branding of our website, along with the importance of agriculture and the Sydenham River to our community,” Armstrong said in a media release.

“The clean look of the logo reflects the progressive nature of our community, while the Clock Tower is a nod to our past.”

One of the newer Dresden business owners and BIA director, Kimberly Reid, is excited by this new logo.

“The freshness of this logo is matched by the many fresh new ideas that are bubbling in the downtown core,” Reid said in a media release.

“Our community is working together on a number of exciting initiatives that will build Dresden as a destination within Southwestern Ontario.”

Service clubs and organizations have been an integral part of community development in Dresden and Liz Kominek, president of the Dresden & District Horticultural Society and a BIA Director, is enthusiastic about the buzz being created in Dresden.

“The Hort Society is so proud of the contribution we’ve made to the beautification of our community and members are so pleased to partner with the BIA and other groups to move our community forward,” Kominek stated.

This new logo signals a new chapter for our downtown business community, one that is deeply rooted in the strength of our past, while looking forward to the future with hope, energy, and enthusiasm, BIA official say.
