Dresden Lawn Bowling Club holding an open house on Saturday

The Dresden Lawn Bowling Club has announced that they are opened their club for lawn bowling on Monday, June 14.

“We invite everyone interested to come to our open house on Saturday, June 19 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. if you would like to try lawn bowling or find out more about how the game is played,” club officials said in a media release.

“Our friendly members will teach you how to play the game and explain the strategy and rules for free. We guarantee you will have fun while adding this healthy activity to your life. Bring a friend or come alone. Wear a pair of running shoes or comfortable flat shoes with not too an aggressive of sole. We supply the bowls for the instructional sessions and, if you decide to join you may use the club bowls free for the first year.”

Club officials say the new membership rate is $100 for the whole season from now until the end of September.

“Jitney nights are on Monday and Thursday evenings with games starting at 6:45 p.m.,” club officials say.

“Please show up early around 6:30 p.m. so teams can be drawn up nightly, so no commitment is required for you to play each night if you can’t make it.”

Free ‘learn to bowl’ is being held on Monday and Thursday evenings at 6:45 p.m. for the month of June starting on Monday June 14 and the club is offering three free lessons throughout the season for people who want to try later on in the season.

The club is located in Dresden Kinsmen Park at the corner of Sydenham and Wellington Streets.
