After getting stuck for nearly an hour, the Bluewater Ferry in Sombra is docked once again.
A spokesperson with Fisheries and Oceans Canada confirmed with the Sydenham Current that the Sombra-based ferry was assisted by the United States Coast Guard to get back to harbour.
Representatives with the Bluewater Ferry told the Current that the ferry was stuck in the ice of the St. Clair River for about an hour, with an undisclosed number of passengers/vehicles on board.
All were safely returned to shore with the assistance of the ice breaker with the U.S. Coast Guard, according to the ferry representatives.
The ferry had been operational yesterday (Feb. 26) from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. and until around the lunch hour today.
The ferry will be closed indefinitely once again until conditions improve in the river.
