The St. Clair Catholic District School Board is going cashless by using a new system called School Cash Online. It is easy to use and a safe way to pay for school fees. Now with just a few clicks from a home computer, families can pay for a yearbook, a class trip and so much more.
“We have visited schools and met with families to explain the new system and how it works,” says Amy Janssens, Manager of Financial Services for the Board.
“The system was brought online in September and within five months 50 per cent of families are already registered.”
All families have to do is register an account, attach the names of their children and in no time they are able to use the service. Once registered they can make payments online and print or view their own receipts. Instead of sending cash with children, risking loss or theft, families can safely pay online anytime.
“Registration only takes five minutes,” says Mrs. Janssens. “Registration instructions have been sent home or can be found on the school website. Simply by registering, families will now receive e-mail communication instead of waiting for paper announcements to come home in backpacks. ”
School Cash Online seamlessly integrates with the Board’s current accounting software and reduces the risks normally associated with handling cash. Funds are transferred to the correct school account electronically. The e-payment system is however, completely optional. Parents can still choose to pay using cash or cheque.
