’30 litres of chili sold a week’ – no joke

your hometown deli soups chili

Your Hometown Deli in Wallaceburg doesn’t just sell chili…they sell A LOT of chili.

“We sell chili every day and we sell approximately 30 litres of chili a week,” Kevin Blake, co-owner, said. “That’s a lot of chili.”

Blake said with their chili and all of their soup, fresh ingredients are used.

“We got across the road to No Frills and we buy our celery and green pepper, we cut it all by hand, so everything is prepped and cooked right here on site with all fresh ingredients,” Blake said. “That’s what makes a difference. It’s not a frozen bag of soup or something that was made in a factory. We make it all fresh right here.”

Blake said they offer different kinds of soup on a daily basis.

“We always try to do a cream soup like cream of mushroom or cream of asparagus, cream of broccoli, and then we try to do a broth soup, so vegetable beef barley or guinness beef and mushroom,” he said. “We do some vegan soups too, like vegan lentil soup.”

Blake said you can buy soup by the pot at Your Hometown Deli as well.

“So you can buy 6 litres of soup for $49.99 and that feeds about 18 or 19 people,” he said. “We can do up a specialty soup… if someone needs it gluten-free, we can do up a soup for them, because we make it from scratch.”
