Man charged for stealing chocolate Easter eggs

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following a shoplifting incident in Wallaceburg.

On March 30, 2014, the man entered No Frill’s grocery store and concealed two packages of chocolate eggs.

The man left the store without making any attempt to pay for the items.

An employee confronted the man regarding the theft and the man threatened the employee.

The man fled the area on foot.

About an hour later, a woman returned the eggs to the grocery store.

Total value of the theft was approximately $5.

Through investigation, police identified the man responsible for the theft and he was arrested yesterday morning.

The 40-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000 and uttering threats.

He was transported to the Court House for a bail hearing.
