Your Hometown Deli in Wallaceburg does not look far for their “wide selection” of meat and cheese.
“The meat we get from two suppliers, Country Meat Products, which is in Dundas, Ontario, just outside of Hamilton,” said co-owner Kevin Blake. “They are family run and owned. We get a large variety from them. We’re getting tomato basil turkey, jalapeno turkey, roast turkey. We get really good ham from them… pastrami, corned beef, roast beef, Montreal smoked and Angus beef. They’re all really good quality products.”
Blake said they also purchase meat from Shinkels Legacy brand, from outside of Chatham.
“We get smoked turkey from them,” he said. “Shinkels is gluten-free meat… some of them like the honey ham is gluten-free, low sodium, low fat content. We like to look for healthier alternatives. We’ve got a wide selection of salamis and jumbo summer sausage. Most of those come from Shinkels too.”
Blake many of their cheeses come from Country Meat Products.
“We also have a wide variety of cheeses that go along with it,” he said. “We’ve got old cheddar, mild cheddar, marble cheddar, onion and parsley, swiss cheese, gouda. Creamy havarti, jalapeno jack… so we’ll slice it fresh for people everyday.”
