The employees at RBC in Wallaceburg handed a $1,000 cheque to the Canadian Cancer Society yesterday (April 4), to kick start some fundraising for the upcoming Relay For Life in Wallaceburg.

Travis Hooper, branch manager, said the money came from the RBC Foundation through an employee grant participation program.

“We’re also going to have a bake sale on April 17, all the funds there will be going towards our Relay For Life team with the proceeds going to the Cancer Society,” Hooper said. “We also have the cans up by the wickets for anyone who would like to make a donation. We’ll be doing our pledging as a team as well.”

Volunteers with the Cancer Society set up shop in RBC yesterday as well, selling daffodils for the RBC Relay For Life team.

Hooper added about 15 people are already on board with the RBC team for the upcoming Relay For Life.

The event takes place starting in the evening on May 30 and going until the next morning.
