Volunteers from the community of Port Lambton are hosting a Splash-i-licious Big Night Out Dinner Party fundraiser on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 6 p.m. at Gatsby’s Bar & Grill in on James Street in Wallaceburg.

This culinary affair will serve as the spring fundraising event for the Brander Park Splash Pad.

In addition to a full 3-course gourmet dinner prepared by Chef Angie and staff, beverages and fun will be available to all attending.

A special appearance by St. Clair Township Mayor, Steve Arnold, is also on the agenda. Arnold will address the attendees and present an updated tally of the group’s fundraising efforts to date.

“We wanted to continue the fantastic momentum of our fundraising efforts so far and update the community on the future Brander Park Splash Pad. We thought a Splash-i-licious Big Night Out Dinner Party would be a great way to celebrate this fantastic community initiative,” said Anne Hazzard, Co-Chair of Brander Park Splash Pad’s Volunteer Committee.

Tickets for the evening’ full 3-course gourmet dinner are $40 per person and this amount includes a charitable donation tax receipt for $20.

A cash bar will also be available.

Hazzard said that anyone interested in attending from St. Clair Township and the Wallaceburg area is welcome to purchase tickets to the event. Volunteers will also be on hand to answer any questions about the group’s fundraising efforts, project plans, and how members of the community can help out or donate on their own.

Donations will be accepted but are not expected at the event.

“Our fundraising efforts have been underway since last summer, and we really just wanted to keep the great momentum going for this exciting initiative. There are many ways community members can contribute to this project and we’ll have all that information available at the dinner for those interested in helping out,” explained Hazzard.

About the Brander Park Splash Pad: Through various donations, fundraising efforts and support from the municipality of St. Clair Township, who has committed to match community donations dollar for dollar, the Brander Park Splash Pad intends to raise $200,000 to fund the development of a community splash pad. The future Brander Park Splash Pad will provide lasting summer memories of safe, water activities to hundreds of families in the community. Accessible to all, this environmentally conscious water structure will run free-of-charge throughout the summer months (water will be operable on-demand and will flow for timed intervals when activated).

Construction on the Brander Park Splash Pad is scheduled to be completed for late summer 2014.
