The Wallaceburg Dog Off Leash Recreation Area committee is holding their annual spring clean-up at the park on Saturday (May 3.)

Nancy Townley, a member of the committee, said a team of volunteers head out to the Happy Tails Off Leash Dog Park the first Saturday in May each year.

“We’re going to pick up all of the garbage around the outside of the park, as well as whatever we find inside including all the presents that all the dogs have left for us,” she said. “We’re going to cut all the saplings around all the big trees, we’re going to spread the mulch in areas where it is needed. We’re going to fix the fence in places where dogs have dug underneath and get rid of some of the piles of leaves as well.”

For anyone that wants to come out, Townley said they are more than welcome.

They will be meeting at 9 a.m.

“Bring some gloves for sure, and dress appropriately because it looks like we’re going to have a little bit of drizzle,” she said. “Most of the committee will be here and we’re going to brings shovels and rakes… and somebody is bringing a portable chipper to get ride of all the tree branches that have fallen.”

Townley added the group is always looking for donations, whether it’s grass seed, or mulch, etc., and they are also looking for new committee members as well.
