Splash Pools can fix what Mother Nature broke this winter

Polar vortexes and pools don’t generally go together very well. However, the crew at Splash Pools in Wallaceburg is prepared to fix any potential problems left behind from this years lengthy and bitterly cold winter.

Maryanne DeVylder, who has owned the business since 1991 with her husband Maurice, said people should be getting their pools opened a bit earlier this year, to ensure there is time to fix any problems that may have been caused by freezing weather.

“You’ll want to get your pool and your system running a little bit earlier than you normally would just because of the way the winter ran,” she said. “If there is something wrong, you’ve got time to book it, to get it fixed, or fix it yourself.”

Maryanne said Splash can send their crew to people’s residence’s to investigate different problems with their pools and fix them as well.

She said for all the “do-it-yourselfers” in town, they have all the equipment you will need right at their 155 Nelson Street location in Wallaceburg.

Maryanne said with the spring season just getting rolling, she still doesn’t know what damage Mother Nature has caused.

“Who knows once the pools actually get going, what kind of underground issues we might run into,” she said. “Broken plumbing, even a filter broken, because if you didn’t winterize it properly, and even if you did winterize it properly the winter was so bad, who knows. There could be a lot of that. We had frost in some areas down six feet. Most of the plumbing in pools is down about 42 inches. So even if you had antifreeze in your lines.. who is to say, even the ground freezing itself can crush pipes or break off solid fittings.”

Maryanne said taking care of any issues before it gets really warm, will ensure people don’t waste any sunshine.

“Now is the time to be thinking about that kind of an issue,” she said. “If there is something that needs to be done, let’s get it done now and then you’re ready for the May 2-4 weekend or when the warmer weather finally comes. Don’t wait until the last minutes where we get booked up, and it’s not just us, any shop will get booked up and then you’ll be sitting there waiting with all this nice warm weather coming.”

Splash Pool, Chemicals and Supplies has been Wallaceburg’s “home town pool store since 1991″. Their goal is to keep their clients happy and their swimming pools and spas healthy.
