‘We Believe In Dresden Day’ is a hit, see photos

St. John Street in Dresden was shut down for four hours on Saturday, in order for the community to celebrate the second annual “We Believe In Dresden Day.”

Organized by the Dresden Ministerial Association, there was an assortment of activities, crafts, games, a bike rodeo, puppet shows and a free barbecue across from the Old Czech Hall and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.

“You pray for days like today for the weather and for all the churches to be able to get together, link their arms and work together, and work with the community,” said Rev. Andy Cornell of St. Andrew’s, one of the organizers. “Neighbourhood Watch people, firefighters, Special Const. Randi Hull (from the Chatham-Kent Police Service) and the list could go on.”

John Lang, from the Trinity Christian Centre in Dresden who also helped organize the event, said it was a good turn out for the event.

“We had a good turnout last year and the weather cooperated again,” he said. “It’s just wonderful how the community support us. It’s great that the churches get together and unified, we have a lot of volunteers from all the churches. It’s just a wonderful day.”

Land added said the whole goal of the event is to show the love of Christ to the community.

“We’re here as a church to serve others, we’re not here for ourselves,” he said. “We just like to do something like this to bring the community together, have them enjoy each other company and have a wonderful time.
