Some overnight and weekend will be taking place on Highway 40 between Wallaceburg and Chatham starting in August.

Chatham-Kent administration received a request from the Ministry of Transportation for a noise by-law
exemption, to allow Highway 40 rehabilitation from North limits of Chatham to the South limits of Wallaceburg.

The exemption will be in placed from August 2014 to December 2014.

The hours for the exemption runs from 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. and would allow for workers to use excavators, milling and paving equipment at night-time and on weekends.

Mayor Randy Hope said it is important to ensure residents living along that stretch of highway are informed about the work.

Hope said the MTO should be contacting the residents to ensure they are made aware.
