Home invasion leads to arrest in Wallaceburg

A 30-year-old Wallaceburg man is facing robbery, break and enter, weapons dangerous and theft charges after breaking into a Wallaceburg home with a knife early this morning.

Police say at about 2 a.m. (June 22), a man allegedly entered a home through a side door on Elgin Street in Wallaceburg.

The accused was confronted by the occupant of the home, and after a very short conversation, the suspect tried to take off with the victim’s wallet.

When the person in the home attempted to prevent the suspect from taking the wallet, the accused produced a knife and left the residence with the wallet.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service was contacted and the suspect was arrested a short distance away.

He is being held for a bail hearing.
