Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Chatham-Kent as thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall is expected for today.
An area of showers and thunderstorms will affect much of Southwestern Ontario later this morning and into the afternoon.
These thunderstorms may produce heavy rainfall with 20 to 40 millimetres possible locally within a short period of time.
Please note that a severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for regions farther east where thunderstorms are expected to be even more intense.
Environment Canada will continue to monitor this developing situation.
