John Willatt is running for Mayor

Another name has been added to the mix for the position of Mayor in Chatham-Kent.

Chatham resident John Willatt has filed his papers and will be running for mayor in the upcoming municipal election.

Willatt ran for council in Ward 6 – Chatham back in 2006 and 2003.

In 2006, he finished last among the 17 candidates in C-K’s biggest ward that year, gathering 774 votes.

In 2003, he finished 18th out of 19 candidates, gathering 1002 votes.

Phone calls to Willatt have yet to be returned.

The only other candidate to file for mayor so far is Marjorie Crew.

Former mayoral candidate Ian McLarty has stated he intends to run once again and incumbent mayor Randy Hope told the Sydenham Current he intends to run for a third term.

Election Day is Oct. 27.
