Shawn Moore, manager of Tom and Al’s, said adjustable beds are a nice luxury.
“The key thing we’re trying to focus on is motion beds are not for people that can’t get out of bed anymore,” he said. “We’re spending a lot more time in our bedrooms. We’re watching TV in there, we’re doing a lot of things. You start propping yourself up with pillows. If one person likes to stay up late and reads and the other one wants to go to bed, one side of the bed can be lifted up, she can sit and read and he could conk out.”
Moore said they are a really nice option and they are starting to see a lot of customers inquiring about them. He said they carry the top of the line products from Leggett and Platt – http://lpadjustablebeds.com/.
“Everything that they carry, we’ll have three of them, but everything is available to us,” he said. “We have three levels of them. One is a very basic one, possibly for somebody who needs one, someone who can’t bend a lot and doesn’t want anything fancy, right up to the designer series with colour fabric bases and matching headboards. There are three different levels of mattress available. You can get a firm mattress, a good old fashion spring one and a higher end, memory foam, latex mattress that are built for adjustable beds.”
Moore said pricing starts at $1,999 for a single.
“Extra long with mattress and they go up from there,” he said. “We’ve found our pricing is good for the entire area. A lot of people are selling a lot of different branded beds, but they are all made by Legget and Platt anyway… we’re buying directly from the provider.”
Moore added the beds can all be adjusted to suit the customers needs.
“With the three beds, they give us three different weight limits too,” he said. “We can adjust to the size of customer, health concerns that kind of stuff. We can lift the height of the bed up, we can drop it down lower. There are all kinds of adjustments we can do.”
