Tom and Al’s in Wallaceburg started helping people get a good nights 43 years ago, and the same is true today.

Shawn Moore, manager at the Wallaceburg store, says they focus on what the customer needs.

“If we have a bigger customer that comes in, it makes no sense to sell him a bed that is built for a 200 lbs. person,” he said. “Therapeutic has brought out the Husky line. The primary base, the spring base to these beds are the heaviest gauge in the industry. Still comfortable, still firm support, but they are spec’d out to up to 1,000 lbs.”

Moore added: “They built them for big guys… and in the process they built a bed with the best support we’ve ever seen. We’ve sold them to people that weigh 80 lbs. and we’ve sold them to the big guys that need them. The bed has a 10-year guarantee on it and it is built to last 10 years with that size of individual.”

Moore said the bed is just like the old traditional beds.

“Same they’ve built for 100 years, 10 year warranty and the company is in Toronto,” he said. “You can flip it, you can rotate and it is not two-feet thick to try and find sheets for it.”

Moore said Tom and Al’s only deals with the one company.

“We’ve dealt with them for 43 years,” he said. “I can pick up the phone and talk to the president, the production manager and the guy in shipping and find out, if I order a bed today and absolutely need it, I’ll have it tomorrow, if not I’ll have it within two days.”

Moore said they are putting a focus on not overwhelming the customer with too many beds.

“Our Queen beds are starting at about $449 and up, the skies the limit right now,” he said. “It’s an investment in yourself. If you believe in the quality and health benefits of a good nights sleep, which are documented, you need a good bed, you need to be comfortable. We really discourage the kind of bed shopping like ‘yeah, that’s good.’ No,no get on the bed, lay on it. I don’t want a call in a week saying I can’t sleep on this.”

Moore added it takes about a week to 10 days for a persons body to adjust.
