Wallaceburg attempted murder case update

Two men charged in connection to an attempted murder in Wallaceburg are still behind bars.

Taylor Ermatinger, 20-years-old from Walpole Island, was arrested May 20 and charged with attempted murder after an altercation at Sam’s Hotel in Wallaceburg.

He is set to appear in a Chatham courtroom again on August 19 at 9 a.m. to speak to.

Ermatinger was denied bail back on June 5.

A publication ban is in effect for evidence in his bail hearing, which lasted two days in court.

According to the latest reports from police, the 19-year-old victim in the altercation is still listed in critical condition in a London hospital.

However, social media chatter suggests that the victim is beginning to show signs of improvement.

18-year-old Jessy Elder of Wallaceburg, is still in custody as well.

He was named as an accessory to the alleged crime and is also facing a charge of obstructing police.

Elder has had his bail hearing pushed back multiple times.

He is scheduled once again for a bail hearing on Aug. 6.
