Community Living eyeing new townhouses in Wallaceburg

Community Living is looking to build three new townhouses in Wallaceburg.

The project will need council approval for several proposed consent and zoning by-law amendments before moving forward.

The item will be discussed at the combined planning and regular council meeting on Monday, August 11.

The location of the proposed development consists of four properties at the corner of Nelson Street, Duncan Street and Wall Street. A staff report says the plan is to build single-detached dwellings on three of the locations, with one property remaining as a parking lot.

Neighbours in a two-block radius received letters in the mail, informing them about the proposed development and of the public meeting where council will vote on the project in Aug. 11.

A staff report says “no unfavourable comments” were received.

According to their website, Community Living Wallaceburg is a progressive association that enables people to realize their potential and choices within inclusive communities. They provide a full range of accommodation, community and employment supports to more than 450 individuals and their families throughout Chatham-Kent.

Sources tell the Sydenham Current that the new project will house some intellectually disabled people with high behavioural profiles.

We’ll look to follow up with Community Living Wallaceburg officials for more information.
