Wellness In Wallaceburg Education Campaign kicks off

wellness in wallaceburg campaign

Do you know what services are available in the Wallaceburg area that help you be healthy and well?

A Wellness in Wallaceburg Education Campaign is being launched this week in celebration of Community Health and Wellbeing Week between October 5th and October 11th.

Community Health and Wellbeing week is a cross-Canada celebration using the theme Shift the Conversation: Community Health & Wellbeing.

Good health is not just about lifestyle choices and medical treatments.

Health begins where we live, learn, work and play.

What happens in our homes, our schools, and communities and whether we can afford the basic things to keep us healthy and well, are all factors of our health and wellbeing.

It is all of these services that help us be healthy and well that will be highlighted in the Wellness in Wallaceburg Campaign.

Each week a different organization will be answering some of the following questions to help you learn how to be well:

– What services do you provide?

– Who can access your services?

– How do people access your services?

– Is there a cost?

– What is new or highlight a special event?

– What is the future direction of services in the Wallaceburg area?

– What is the best advice you can give to people to help them stay well?

To learn the answers from various organizations:

– Read the Wallaceburg Courier Press

– Read the Sydenham Current

– Listen to Radio CKXS – 99.1 FM each Monday at 7:45 am for the Wellness in Wallaceburg segment

– Review the Chatham-Kent Events Calendar at www.chatham-kent.ca – click on Calendar – choose Wellness in Wallaceburg. You can also request to receive emails when new events are added.

The Wellness in Wallaceburg Education Campaign was started as a result of Councilors Jeff Wesley and Sheldon Parsons bringing service providers together to determine how they could help the community learn. Wesley and Parson’s vision is that the community better understands what services are available in the Wallaceburg area, how to receive services, to feel supported in doing so, and to understand the trends in health care for the future.

For more information on the Wellness in Wallaceburg Education Campaign, or for service organizations to join the campaign please contact the Healthy Communities Partnership at CKHealthyCommunitiesPartnership@chatham-kent.ca.
