Dresden Remembrance Day service, see photos

Despite the odd set of circumstances at the Dresden Remembrance Day ceremony today, the event still brought the community together to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice in Canada.

North Kent Coun. Joe Faas, who is also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 113, said the annual ceremony had great community participation.

“We had a fly over by the Sarnia Flying Association Formation Team,” Faas said. “Representatives from the police and fire, the Legion, Wabash scouts, all the schools, Dawn Euphemia, Dresden Area Central, Lambon-Kent Composite.”

Faas said November 11 is also a day to remember our fallen soldiers.

“When you are a Legion member the focus is never forgetting the sacrifice that was made,” he said. “It is our responsibility to remember that, but also to pass it down to the next generation.

Faas added: “I think everyone, especially at the Legion, has had a descendant who fought in the war. We want to make sure that their memories are not forgotten.”
