Roads ‘slick’ across Chatham-Kent

Police in the area are advising motorists to stay at home this evening.

“You may want to re-evaluate your plans for tonight,” officials with the Chatham-Kent Police Service stated. “If you don’t have to go out – then don’t.”

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials said snow is accumulating across the Municipality.

“Slow down and keep a safe following distance behind the vehicle ahead of you.”

OPP officials stated they are responding to multiple vehicles in ditches across the region.

“Roadways are getting slick across the region,” OPP officials stated. “All preventable folks… slow down.”

The MTO is reporting that Highway 40 between Chatham and Wallaceburg is snow covered, and is partly snow covered with bare and wet road sections from Wallaceburg to Sarnia.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement this afternoon, as 5 cm of snow is expected to fall.
