2014 marks the 100th anniversary of the Catherine McVean Chapter IODE in Dresden.
The house tour will focus on this theme by offering historical homes for viewing.
Our Chapter has been busy with other projects throughout the year including writing a book documenting
our history; a Cenotaph project and our Spring Fashion Show held in May included fashions “then and now”.
The Catherine McVean Chapter was organized in 1914 largely in response to the start of WWI as many families in Dresden saw
loved ones enlist in the war effort. While we began supporting our “King and country” and the “boys” sent off to fight, our work has evolved
as social, political and historical events required. Our motto, “we live in deeds”, remains relevant to this day.
