Update: The wind warning has ended for Chatham-Kent, as of 10:18 p.m.
Here is the latest update from Environment Canada at 8:36 p.m. – Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring.
Very strong southwesterly winds of 60 to 70 km/h gusting to near 100 km/h continue to blast much of Southern Ontario this evening in the wake of a strong cold front which has now moved off to Quebec and New York State.
These winds will continue to cause some damage to trees and building, with more power outages possible tonight as a result.
The strong and gusty winds will also result in very difficult driving conditions, especially on highways exposed to strong cross winds.
The winds will slowly diminish late tonight or Tuesday morning.
Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur.
High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds.
Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.
