Gas prices dropping in Wallaceburg

Wallaceburg residents are being met with a pleasant surprise at the local pumps.

Gas prices at stations across Wallaceburg are below one dollar for the first time in years.

However, Wallaceburg residents have mixed reactions when looking at the diving prices.

“I think it’s great gas prices are going down,” said Wallaceburg resident Gail Cook. “My husband and I are retired and on a fixed income. With everything else going up we welcome lower gas prices.”

Collette O’Neil said she wonders how the prices can fluctuate so much.

“If the gas stations still have the same gas in their reservoirs as they did yesterday, why is the price different today,” she said.

David McCready, owner owner of Ed’s Baits in Wallaceburg, said he’s going to fill up his vehicle regardless.

“Honestly, I don’t pay attention to them,” he said. “The way I look at it is regardless of gas prices, I need to drive, so if it’s high and I’m going to buy it anyway there really is no point in complaining about it.”

The drop in price is being noticed across the province and country.

Global oil prices worldwide continue to drop, with Brent crude oil closing down $2.78 (U.S.) at $63.05 on Monday.

That is down 40 per cent since the summer.

According to GasBuddy.com – the average price for gas in Ontario is currently 105.707, with he lowest price in the province in Cornwall at 89.8

Multiple reports indicate that the prices will continue to fall over the next week.
