Grace Isobel Vokes (Welch), a resident of Watford Quality Care and formerly of Port Lambton, was received by her loving Lord and Saviour January 1, 2015 in her 91st year.
Grace was born in Enniskillen Township to the late Angus and Cora Welch on July 22, 1924.
Predeceased by her loving husband and soulmate Ralph Vokes (April 2014). She is survived by sister-in-laws Margaret (Ron Curts), Doris (Harry) Squire, Marion (Ritchie) Smith.
Aunt Grace will be missed by many nieces & nephews.
Predeceased by sister Verlie (Harold) McAuslan, brother-in-laws – Maurice (Dorthea), Ross ( Betty, Margaret), John (Dorothy, Laura).
Her home was filled with music, laughter and fellowship and often a gathering place for friends and family.
She trained as a nurse in Chatham General hospital and worked at Petrolia CEE hospital and also as a private care nurse.
Her passion was bringing joy to others through music which she shared with many as a member of different musical groups – the Joy Makers being the most recent.
Both Ralph and Grace enjoyed traveling and spent 20 years travelling to their home in Florida where they added to their wide circle of friends.
Grace was a long-time member of Port Lambton United Church and was an inspiration to young and old alike and an avid supporter of U-Turn Ministries.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg from 7-9 PM on Friday.
A celebration of life for Grace will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, January 10th at 11:30 AM.
Interment in Riverside Cemetery, Sombra.
